In book four of his series, Bentley is at the center of a story that spans the Old West and the New West, blending historical information and fictional events. It has several real-life settings, including the O.K. Corral, saguaro cactus forests, and the Tucson Rodeo. As with the other Bentley stories, it encourages community volunteerism through nonprofit groups, including, in this book, the Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee and the Friends of Saguaro National Park. An excerpt from “Bentley and the Cactus Rustlers” was published in the February 19, 2007, edition of the Arizona Daily Star as part of the Newspapers in Education program, and chapter readings were given to Tucson schoolchildren during the February 2007 Love of Reading Week. “Bentley and the Cactus Rustlers” is educational, entertaining, and spiritually elevating. As with the other Bentley stories, this book features colorful, full-color photographic illustrations that contribute to its realistic sense of wonder.

In book three of his series, Bentley confronts his fear of the Thunder Man in order to make a lifesaving rescue. The story is exciting (including escape from a flash flood), educational (including information about weather phenomenon known as the Mexican monsoon), and entertaining (including an amazing bingo game, a fanciful fishing expedition, and even a hint of romance).
The story also conveys positive messages about a variety of topics, ranging from consideration for the safety of others to coping with stress to summoning the courage for service. The first chapter of the story was published on September 14, 2005 in the Arizona Daily Star as part of the Newspapers in Education program. The full story is now available here as an e-book.
